Saturday, August 6th, 2011Getting Fit By Yourself-Can You Do It? Las Vegas Personal Training
Thursday, July 28th, 2011I know I’m a personal trainer, so this post may come off as a bit biased, but I’m going to try to keep it at level as possible. Ask yourself this question. Are you in shape? If the answer is yes, I guess you could stop reading this. If the answer is no, ask yourself a few more questions. Are you on a direct route to being in shape? If yes, tell me to screw off, if no, keep asking questions. Why do you think you might not be in shape, or on that direct route? I’m getting to a point here. Most people, think they don’t need any help when it comes to getting in shape. I see this a lot with former athletes who were on this college team, or that one, competitive bodybuilders who have lost it, and on and on. You get it a lot from people who were in the military as well. These are the people who say, “oh man, I used to be in such good shape, back when I was playing ball.” or “Yeah, we used to do all kinds of that stuff in the military”. You look at them now, and you can’t even tell they ever worked out in their entire lives. Unfortunately, they are the hardest eggs to crack. And on the other end of the out of shape spectrum, you have the people with no prior training or conditioning background, who just don’t do the right things. Well, there is hope for us all!
For the former athletes, we will call them, a lot of times, it’s an ego thing. They think that they were in shape once before, so why would they need help to do it again? they went through all the training and workouts in college, just do the same thing, right? Well, when you don’t do something for a few years, you become, hmm….. not so good at it anymore. So those two laps around the track that were a warm up for you in college, have now become a whole workout for you. The 50 pushups in a minute you were repping out in the Army, now become 50 pushups in 10 sets of 5, that take you 30 minutes. Problem is, all these former athletes THINK they can get themselves in shape, because they’ve been there before. But what they fail to realize, is they had someone pushing them that whole time, whether it was their coach, or trainer, or captain, or whatever. Now, in the real adult world, that influence is gone. And that’s why you see so many former athletes, just, to put it bluntly, get fat. There is no more guidance. They are responsible for themselves, and they just don’t do the necessary things anymore to push themselves. Most of them don’t see the need for outside help, because they think they know what it takes to get in shape, and it may be true. But let’s go back to asking questions. If they do know what it takes, why aren’t they in shape anymore? Everyone on earth can use the excuse of time, a job, kids, whatever, but it really comes down to one thing. The motivation. If that former athlete is not motivated from within, maybe it is time to get help from an outside source, if just to kick them into gear. I have tons of friends who USED to be athletes, and now, that motivation to stay in shape isn’t there. That’s why, they should look into someone like me, or your own local personal trainers or coaches, to throw them back on that right bus to fitness. Point is, they might KNOW what to do, but for whatever reason, they aren’t DOING it. Find someone to help.
Now, for the “unexercised”. These are the people, who think they want to get in shape, and think that they can do it on their own. For every ONE success story, I can name TEN that still have not watched a single P90X dvd they bought two years ago. The fact of the matter is, is that we as a majority, are a lazy society. If that offends you, it shouldn’t. Look up the definition of lazy in the dictionary. It means this:
Where Are My Abs? Las Vegas Personal Training
Monday, May 2nd, 2011I have abs. You have abs. That 400 pound dude eating the cheetos, trough of ice cream, and keg of lemonade has abs too. If you compare us all, side to side, you’ll see mine, you may see yours, and the 400 pound man, well, you’ll have to feel around, get a magnifying glass, and give him an ultrasound to see if there are any there. But he does have them. What’s the difference? Body fat. It isn’t who has more muscle when it comes to having a six pack. That plays a part, we all know that, but I will also say there are tons of crack heads who have a six pack too, and it has nothing to do with their nutrition program. the less bodyfat you have, the more your abs will show. I don’t recommend becoming addicted to any drugs, but I do recommend losing bodyfat. And the best way to do that, IS to monitor your nutrition program. If you are eating based on whatever is cheapest, then you probably won’t see your abs any time soon. I know money plays a role in all our lives, but you need good quality FOOD to really make a difference. Just because this oatmeal is 20 cents, doesn’t make it a better fit than the oatmeal that is $2.00, if the quality of the oatmeal diminishes just as much as the price does. Like I always say with most things, you pay for what you get. Just because macaroni and cheese is a dollar a box, does not make it a good substitute for lean ground beef, a sweet potato, and some steamed greens. If you think that way, you’ll never see your abs. It takes dedication, planning, and some willpower to get those abs to show. Learn a little bit about the food you eat, and the effects that that food will have on you, and you’ll realize why, macaroni and cheese does not equal a six pack.
Tips To Help You Lose Fat
Sunday, July 25th, 2010Happy Sunday people of the summer? Have you been keeping up with working out? Has your fitness level increased over the summer? Have you taken the necessary steps to keep your bodyfat low, while enjoying time in the sun? If you still are a little unsure about going outside in a tank top, or a bikini for that matter, what is it that is holding you back? What have your workouts been like? They’ve been ok? Great. What has your nutrition been like? Not so great? BINGO! Most people, just miss the boat on this one. If you aren’t getting proper nutrition, you won’t get the full benefits of your workout. You also won’t reach your goals in any sort of timely manner. So I am going to give you some tips to lose fat quickly.
1. Eat more fruits and vegetables. If you eat 6-7 servings of fruits and vegetables a day, I can almost guarantee you will see weight or fat loss. Most people I would assume get an average of 3 servings, and I am being generous. If you add more, you will be less likely to eat a bunch of crap junk to fill yourself with empty calories and fat.
2. Write down what you eat. Writing down everything you put in your mouth will make you realize just what your diet looks like. It will tell you whether you are getting enough water, enough proteins, or if you even eat ANY veggies.
3. Eliminate processed foods. Really, when you eliminate processed, packaged, foods, there is really no way around eating healthy. Simple rule, if it comes in a box, don’t eat it. Try this out for a week and see what happens to your body.
There are my tips. Try to incorporate one a week, and in 3 weeks, i bet you’ll be liking the new you.
