At Tony Cress Training Center, coaching is more than a job—it’s a journey of discovery, both for our clients and for us as coaches. I’m always evolving in my understanding of what it means to guide people toward their best selves. For me, this journey is rooted in a simple but profound belief: Movement Matters First.
Why Movement Quality Comes First
Strength. Speed. Endurance. Power. We all have an idea of what these words mean. But in my experience, true progress in any of these areas comes from something more fundamental: the quality of your movement.
You can’t fake quality movement. It’s the foundation of everything you do—whether you’re lifting, running, or performing complex athletic tasks. If your movement is dysfunctional or compensatory, you’re building on shaky ground. My philosophy is simple:
- Move Well.
- Move More.
- Make It More Challenging.
This progression ensures longevity, reduces the risk of injury, and maximizes your performance potential. Yes, there’s a time and place for “move however you see fit,” but in my eyes, that comes secondary. Mastery precedes variability.
My Approach to Motivation
Let me be clear: I’m not a cheerleader. I’ve been asked to play that role, but it just doesn’t fit who I am. Instead, I see myself as a psychological conductor.
What does that mean? It means I work to align your mindset, actions, and goals. I put the facts in front of you and ask the important questions:
- What do you want?
- Why do you want it?
- How are you going to achieve it?
At the end of the day, the power to act lies with you. I can provide the framework, the guidance, and the tools—but it’s your effort that makes the difference. I’ll hold you accountable, but I won’t spoon-feed you motivation. My role is to help you realize that the responsibility and potential have been within you all along.
Who I Want to Coach
I want to coach people who are hungry for more. More than muscles. More than the superficial markers of fitness. I’m looking for individuals who see their physical presence on this planet as an opportunity—a chance to not just exist but truly live.
If you’re someone who believes there’s more to fitness than reps and sets, we’re on the same page. If you’re someone who wants to live life fully rather than watching others live theirs, then I want to work with you. Fitness isn’t about checking a box—it’s about creating a life that feels vibrant, purposeful, and uniquely yours.
I’m here to help you step out of the Matrix, if that resonates with you. Together, we can make the choices that lead to a richer, more fulfilling life.
Building the Right Team
Living by this philosophy isn’t just about attracting the right clients—it’s also about growing as a coach and cultivating the right team. When we’re all aligned in our vision and values, something extraordinary happens. We become more than a fitness community; we become a collective force for better living.
This journey isn’t just about coaching others—it’s also about evolving myself. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow alongside my clients and my team, and I look forward to discovering more about what’s possible when we prioritize quality movement, meaningful action, and true fulfillment.
At Tony Cress Training Center, we’re not just training bodies—we’re shaping lives. If you’re ready to move better, live better, and be better, we’re here to help you take the first step. Let’s build something extraordinary together.
